Around the age of two – sometimes a little before, sometimes a little after, and sometimes you’ll fall through the cracks – comes a stage that parents know well. It’s often called the two-year crisis, the Terrible 2, or the opposition phase.<\/p>\n
These terms often convey the difficulty we parents feel:
\ud83d\udca2 the screams,
\ud83d\udca2 the tantrums,
\ud83d\udca2 sometimes even blows,
\ud83d\udca2 and above all that little one who wants to do everything on his own.<\/p>\n
It’s true that it takes time and patience, and that it comes at us hard in our role as parents.<\/p>\n

How about a change of perspective?<\/p>\n
Chatting with a Graines de Vie mom, another vision emerged:
\ud83d\udc49 “Me, I call it the autonomy phase.”<\/p>\n
And wow, when you put it like that, it changes everything. Because in reality, that’s what it’s all about:
\ud83c\udf31 Your child isn’t opposing you, he’s simply asserting his right to exist on his own.
\ud83c\udf31 He’s trying himself out, experimenting, taking his place.
\ud83c\udf31 Behind every cry or opposition, there’s above all an immense desire to grow.<\/p>\n
So, rather than seeing a crisis, we can choose to see a stage of development. And it profoundly changes the way we experience it, even if it’s not always easy on a day-to-day basis.<\/p>\n

Why don’t we discuss it together?<\/p>\n
At Graines de Vie, we’re thinking about reintroducing meetings around these milestones, which are so important for our 2-5 year-olds. A place to share and share your difficulties, but also to find the keys to feeling less alone.<\/p>\n
